The aim of this module is to provide the learner
with the skills and capacity to understand Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and
Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) for the purpose of building, testing and
maintaining websites.
The module will cover:
• A brief history of the internet and the World Wide Web (WWW)
• Application of HTML and CSS for authoring web documents
• Understanding of the different versions of HTML and CSS
• Principles of good website design
• Basic theoretical principles of design
• Site structure and navigation
• Documentation of development process
• Creation of website templates
Module assessment:
There is no exam for the Web Authoring module. The students are required to
complete one assignment (30% of marks) and one project (70% of marks).
Accreditation:
Following successful completion, students will receive a QQI Level 5
component award in Web Authoring (5N1910).
