Taught by Aiden O’Reilly. Learn techniques for writing short stories, poetry and memoir with a professional writer. The course involves writing exercises in class and participants giving feedback to each other.

We read extracts and practice writing descriptions, dialogue, flash fiction, and memoir. Participants will be given writing prompts to put into practice what they have learned. Participants will be encouraged to revise and rewrite class exercises at home and present them at the next meeting. We aim to have a supportive and creative environment.

Writing samples from several modern and classic authors will be emailed out and discussed in class.

 Participants encouraged to enter SCC Creative Writing competition in January.
